WP 3 : Smart Glycomaterials

Work-package 3 will take advantage of carbohydrate-based materials and their remarkable ability to self-organize into 2D or 3D structures with outstanding properties. WP3 will rely on the expertises of specialists of polysaccharide studies (polymer chemists, material scientists, process engineers), who will work together alongside with technologists and biomaterial designers in a wide range of applications: health care, cosmetics, material chemistry, sport and leisure, pharmaceutics and automotive.

Objectives

  • to promote the use of polysaccharides in high added values functional materials;
  • to give new functionalities to existing glycomaterials (nanocomposite, films, hydrogels);
  • to explore biomimetism and bioinspiration for material design.

Description of the work

  • Task 1: Nano-organized biosourced materials for technological applications (energy, electronics) (co-Polynat).
  • Task 2: Design of functionalized materials for medical applications (co-WP2).
  • Task 3: Conception of new structural and biomimetic materials.
