Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is a hyperpolarization technique that improves the sensitivity of solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments. However, its use for biomolecules is limited by line broadening and loss of resolution induced by the freezing of local dynamics at the cryogenic temperature required for DNP, resulting in conformational heterogeneity. To overcome this problem, the thesis presents solution through introduction of  a selective DNP methodology (SelDNP), which recovers highly resolved spectra specific to protein binding sites.

The research was performed at MEM-CEA and CERMAV-CNRS under the supervisio of Dr Sabine Hediger and Dr. Anne Imberty, and was funded by Labex ARCANE
