From March 16, 2024 to March 23, 2024
Grenoble - Centre ville
The event "La Science Taille XXElles" organised by the Association Café International de Grenoble was held at the Maison des Habitants Bois d'Artas in Grenoble on March 16th and 23rd.
The aim of the event was to celebrate the role of women in research and the scientific and technical professions in order to encourage the general public to take an interest in science and challenge stereotypes. To this end, the exhibition "La Science taille XX elles" lent by the Association Parité Science and consisting of 20 kakemonos with photographs of women working in scientific and technical professions in Grenoble, was on display. In addition, Angela Martin-Serrano Ortiz, postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Molecular Chemistry at the University of Grenoble-Alpes, presented the workshop "Women in science and click chemistry", funded by Glyco@Alps. The workshop started with an introduction presenting figures representing the current situation of women in science and continued with a very visual demonstration to explain in a very simple way and adapted to a non-scientific audience the concepts of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry, the scientific breakthrough that made Carolyn Bertozzi the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2022. At the end of the workshop, participants were able to become "click chemists for a day". In addition to the exhibition and the workshop, the 50 people attending the event could enjoy a snack offered by SIEF, Association Café International de Grenoble and Les Mets Connus.
